The lab's divine

The Octophant is an octopus-elephant hybrid with tentacles sprouting from its back, Dr. Scramble's signature divine from the laboratory update. It doesn't spawn in a biome. You earn it through the Unstable DNA system, which makes it one of the few divines in Steal an Egg that a patient player is guaranteed to get, no matter how fast they are.

Income readings

Copy Income
Admin-gifted egg $4B
Early pity pull $4B
Admin-size, unmutated $5.7T
Admin-size, Scrambled $15.7T
Admin-size, Rainbow $20T

The admin-size readings come from a creator-panel egg so big it was "bigger than the map… like the whole world just leads into some kind of mothership base". Ignore those absolute numbers, but the ratios hold: Scrambled ≈ 2.75x, Rainbow ≈ 3.5x. A real Octophant sits around $4B before mutations.

How Unstable DNA works

During Dr. Scramble's lab weeks:

  1. The Unstable DNA effect turns on for roughly an hour at a time.
  2. A special biome that keeps changing ("constantly changing, and eggs are unavailable" at times) drops Unstable DNA eggs.
  3. Each mutation you get from those eggs adds to a pity counter.
  4. At 100 mutations the pity guarantees an Octophant. That's about 300 eggs.

You can also get lucky earlier. A divine hunter was surprised to pull it far from the pity: "Wait, what is this? This is shiny. Oh my gosh, I got it. I wasn't even close to 100. I got a divine egg this early." That copy made $4B.

The creator who tested it on the panel called the Octophant "definitely one of the most difficult pets to get in the game", not because of luck, but because of the time: you need to be online during the one-hour windows and grind hundreds of eggs from a biome that won't sit still.

Is it worth grinding?

If the event is running and you're online anyway: yes. It's a guaranteed divine that doesn't care about your speed, and $4B per second is strong for anyone who hasn't reached the Titan Temple yet.

If you're already at Angels & Demons or beyond: it's a nice index entry, but a single Night Flame or World Burner will usually outearn it. Mutate it only if it's your heaviest divine.

When the lab update isn't active, there's no way to get one, so treat the event weeks as your window.

Mutating an Octophant

Like any divine, it multiplies cleanly with mutations. Because the Unstable DNA event also runs alongside the Scrambled potion shop, many players had potions on hand the moment their Octophant egg arrived. That's the ideal pairing. Apply Scrambled before hatching, and Enchanted Essence if you have it from the Enchanted Forest.

Tier placement

We put the Octophant in S tier on raw numbers with a caveat: it's event-only. If you own one, it's a top pet. If you don't, you can't chase it until Dr. Scramble returns.
