What candy corn is for
Candy corn is the currency of the Halloween finale in Steal an Egg. You earn it by fighting, fishing and joining the Pumpkin events, and you spend it in two ways:
- 750,000 candy corn unlocks the divine Headless Horseman.
- Smaller amounts buy Halloween dimension eggs, which hold the limited eternals Phantom Ghost and Soul Phantom and finish the Halloween index.
The event ends on Monday, November 2. The Halloween portal closes, candy corn disappears and the shop can no longer be used. Eggs that you already bought stay in your inventory, so you can hatch them after the event.
Is the Headless Horseman worth it?
By raw income, no. The Headless Horseman is a small divine: about 46 billion per second from an 8B egg with one mutation, and 78 billion with spectral and enchanted. Compare that with the Unicorn, the cheapest divine, which creators mutated to nearly 300 billion. If you are rushing income, a few hundred thousand candy corn buys better value as eggs than as a single claim.
It is worth it if you collect limited pets or want another divine for your index. The animation, where it takes its head off and puts it back, is also one of the best in the game.
Fastest ways to farm candy corn
- Weapon switching. Carry three to five weapons. Walk up to an enemy and cycle through them. Each weapon in your backpack adds a hit, so with three weapons one click did three times the damage and killed a 400 HP enemy in one shot.
- Fishing with a macro. Hold the cast for a perfect throw, click quickly and reel in. Recording that sequence with a macro tool (such as TinyTask with continuous playback) lets the character fish while you are away. Turn shift lock off before recording.
- Pumpkin events. Return of the Pumpkin, Phantom Express and the Pumpkin King all pay candy corn, so join each one.
- Boosts. The weekend boost started at 1.5x and was raised to 2.5x. If a boost is active, run your session then.
- Overnight farming. One creator finished the 750,000 by grinding overnight. Pair it with the fishing macro and check that you aren't kicked for idling.
Spending candy corn smartly
- Claim the Headless Horseman first if you want it. Don't spend the last 100,000 on eggs you may regret.
- For the index, buy eggs in batches. One creator bought over 100 eggs in a session and found two eternals. The usual advice is to check each egg's weight, sell the small ones and keep only the heaviest.
- A heavy Halloween dimension egg is worth planting. One 25B-base eternal hatched into a 234 billion per second monkey with two mutations.
How to hatch the Headless Horseman
- Claim the egg once you have 750,000 candy corn.
- Place it in your pen. It grows in about 15 minutes, and you can skip the wait.
- Add mutations before hatching. The Enchanted mutation needs butterflies, so collect them first. One creator put a single mutation on an 8B egg and still reached 46 billion per second.
- Hatch it with Equip Best on.
Keep the egg away from the Mr. Pumpkin hitbox. Several creators opened a Mr. Pumpkin by accident because the two eggs overlap.
The house night-skip trick
A glitch still worked on the last weekend. When a good spawn is predicted at night (a diamond or an eternal):
- Wait inside the house until night starts.
- When the egg spawns, leave the house.
- You arrive near the end of the map, ahead of most players and some speed exploiters.
Use it to grab the best egg of the night. The developers may patch it with the next update.
Hidden room and golden key
You can reach a secret room in the Halloween house with shift lock. It holds a golden key, but nobody has found what it opens. Don't spend time there.
What to do after the event
When candy corn ends on Monday, plan for the alien update: a new biome around Saturday, November 7 and a UFO event on Monday evening. For the full story, read the Jonas Brothers update recap. Use your leftover Halloween mutations on the heaviest egg you have, not on your rarest. The mutation advice in the mutation strategy guide still applies.
FAQ
Can I get candy corn after Monday? Almost certainly not: the candy corn is tied to the Halloween event that ends on November 2.
What if I only have 400,000? Spend it on eggs for the index while the dimension is open, since eggs you buy stay in your inventory.
