Cold, cheap and full of firsts

The Snow biome sits behind a 170,000 speed sign and is guarded by a massive Yeti with ram horns, the monster from the game's own thumbnail art. It's a biome a lot of players skip on their way to the Volcano ("I'm sorry, snow biome, I'm skipping you"), which is a mistake. Snow is where many players get their first eternal, an easy secret, and the Ice Bat.

How the Yeti behaves

The Yeti is quick off the mark but manageable once you're over the sign. Small eggs at 170K are "light work". Bigger ones get caught. In one race, a creator realised the Yeti needs a lot more than their 21K speed: "You need 50,000 speed for the Yeti" was the guess, and even that wasn't enough. At the Snow sign's 170K, a small egg escaped cleanly.

A night-time trick: the Yeti can't catch you after dark because stealing stops. One creator grabbed an egg 10 seconds before dusk and was safe: "This yeti can't catch me before night."

The Snow egg pool

  • Penguin: common, often tiny ($105).
  • Walrus: uncommon.
  • Polar Bear: legendary, $6.7K small, $38K golden. A golden Polar Bear won a 20-minute race.
  • Woolly Mammoth: mythic, about $85K.
  • King Mammoth: cosmic, about $321K.
  • Yeti: the secret, $4.5–5.2M base. A giant silver Yeti made $95M.
  • Ice Dragon: the eternal, $65–123M.

The Ice Dragon

The Snow eternal is a frosty dragon with a 4-hour grow timer, cheap by eternal standards. One creator accidentally opened it early ("Did I open the eternal already by accident?") and still got $65M, their best pet at the time. A medium one made $123M. It's not an endgame pet ("not good good"), but it's an index entry you need, and the Ice Bat depends on the Snow index being complete.

The secret Yeti

The secret Yeti is one of the easiest secrets in Steal an Egg. Low speed requirement, frequent spawns, and $4.5M+ base income. A free-to-play account's first secret was a Snow Yeti at $5.2M, earned after about an hour of treadmill time. It "calls you mama" when you place it, as every pet seems to.

The Ice Bat

Complete the Snow index and you unlock the Ice Bat, a biome bat skin that hits much harder than the default. A free-to-play creator described what it was like without it: "That's the thing about being slow and having the terrible bat: you literally can't do nothing." The Ice Bat fixes the second half. It's a strong reason to fill the Snow index before leaving, even if you can already reach the Volcano.

Server hops for Yetis

Secret Yeti eggs spawn often enough that hopping servers is worthwhile. One server-hop session pulled a secret Yeti egg in a reset and noted "a Yeti, which we obviously can't use", because by then their pen was far beyond it. That's the point: the Yeti is great for the stage you're in, so grab it while it matters.

Getting to the Volcano

The Volcano needs 700K speed, about 4x the Snow sign. Treadmill upgrades to the Gold tier (240 per step) and the next trail get you there. A free-to-play run noted the Volcano sign "actually isn't bad" and grinded the gap in one session.
