The Cosmic eternal

The Lunar Dragon is a moon-themed eternal dragon from the Cosmic biome, the same biome as the Unicorn. It's one of the most common "first eternals" in Steal an Egg, and the pet that triggered one creator's Hatched Eternal badge. Players keep it around long after it stops being the strongest pet in their pen, mostly because "he's just really cool looking."

Income readings

Copy Income
60,000 kg, first eternal $251M
Medium $557M
Average $500M
Admin-abuse giant $2B

The first reading is a great benchmark for what one eternal does to a mid-game account. That creator went from a pen of five-figure pets to $251M per second with a single hatch: "Are you mad? We're already at 3.4 billion monies."

How to get one

The Lunar Dragon spawns in the Cosmic biome (700M speed sign), announced server-wide. At 700M you can steal small eggs. Big ones need more speed or the drop trick. One creator at 343M couldn't reach a big eternal there and admitted using a creator-panel boost to grab it: "None of these people on the server can get it other than me… I'm going to cheat." Normal players need to wait for the speed.

Admin Abuse spawns are another source. A giant Lunar Dragon from an admin event hatched at $2B.

The badge moment

The first time you hatch any eternal, Steal an Egg awards the Hatched Eternal badge. For a lot of players that's a Lunar Dragon, because Cosmic is the first biome where you're likely to be fast enough to grab eternals regularly. In the run above the popup read "I got a badge for hatching my first eternal" right as the dragon appeared.

How long it stays useful

The Lunar Dragon carries you through the push from Cosmic to Cherry Blossom and Titan Temple. In one run it was still "the best" pet in the pen when the account hit a trillion dollars total. Once you're farming Oni Tigers, Night Flames and Skeleton Horses it drops out of Equip Best, unless yours is a giant.

Mutating it

A Lunar Dragon is a reasonable Scrambled target in the mid-game if it's your heaviest egg. One 100-day player tried to mutate one and wasn't sure whether it already had a mutation ("I don't think… it actually already might be mutated"). Check your pet info before spending potions.

Where it sits

B tier. It's the classic first eternal, a good mid-game anchor and a fine index entry, but it's outclassed by later eternals like the Skeleton Horse and Celestial Sun Lion.

Lunar Dragon FAQ

Is it worth a mutation? Only in the mid-game, and only if it's your heaviest egg.

Can I fuse three Lunar Dragons? Yes, in the Fuse Machine. It's a size gamble, so use spares.
